We did it. We got a new puppy. Our hearts ached at the loss of Ginger, and we were ready to love another sweet puppy. Her name is Willow. We picked her up yesterday. 6Lb10oz of pure love and joy.
Willow is a GoldenDoodle. She is energetic and cuddly and so so loving. There isn't a day I don't still think of Ginger and miss her, but this girl is adding some joy to the empty places Ginger's loss brought.
Willow LOVES Trent, and he loves her too. It is pure joy to watch them together. Our adult kids and their kids love her too. She is truly bringing joy to our family.
Funny story- Ginger loved Trent with all she was, and she loved to tuck him in at night BUT once he was asleep, she refused to sleep with him or stay in his room. I tried my best to get her to wake him up in the mornings, but she wanted NO part of waking him. She would just jump on his bed, lay next to him, and try to keep me from disturbing him. We laughed about this all 11 years we had her. Fast forward to Willow ~ I told her this morning that we needed to go wake up her boy....she went in and promptly laid beside him and fell asleep. I said ARE YOU SERIOUS???? Apparently, Willow has no intention of waking him up in the morning either. Go figure. LOL
The wonderful breeder we got her from told us that these puppies all assign themselves 'jobs' and she predicts that Willow's job will be to look after Trent. That makes me smile. Trent has a very special way with animals. My dad, (we called him Papa) was like the pied piper for all animals; all animals loved him and he loved them. Trent has been the same way since he was born. This little puppy is no different. She loved Trent the minute he held her. She lifted her face to him and looked so loving at him. The breeder said when she does that, she wants a kiss on the forehead. She was shaking when he first held her, but after about a minute or less, she looked up at him and wanted a reassuring kiss; which he of course gave her. Her shaking stopped and she immediately knew this tall man sized boy was hers to love, and vice versa.
I am sure that many more stories about little Willow will follow in the days ahead. Thanks for reading, and until next time ~ here is our sweet little puppy.
